All interior designers have their style and I love looking at their work and am fascinated in the art of bringing their design to life. The name of this interior Design firm grabbed my attention, Linda McDougald Design | Postcard from Paris® . Their work is stunning you can see there is a real mix of antiques and contemporary pieces together with a variety of textures. It was hard to select one project from their portfolio but the spiral staircase and lakeside location stole this for me.
Lake Keowee Residence
“Carefully nestled among old growth trees and sited to showcase the remarkable views of Lake Keowee at every given opportunity, this South Carolina architectural masterpiece was designed to meet USGBC LEED for Home standards. The great room affords access to the main level terrace and offers a view of the lake through a wall of limestone-cased windows. A towering coursed limestone fireplace, accented by a 163“ high 19th Century iron door from Italy, anchors the sitting area. Facing high-back linen-covered sofas on an antique rug ground the room and provide the central seating area with a custom iron chandelier above. Between the great room and dining room lies an exceptional 1913 satin ebony Steinway. An antique walnut trestle table surrounded by antique French chairs slip-covered in linen mark the spacious dining that opens into the kitchen.
The stairway of this home is in itself a stunning work of art. Patterned with a nod to the design of the antique balcony off the master bedroom, the railings are custom-crafted from iron and the treads are limestone. The kitchen was created for a master chef who truly loves to cook for her family and friends. Just off the kitchen, an intimate sitting area surrounded by leaded glass windows and antique doors leads to the grill terrace and an all-weather porch. The all-weather porch affords the owners with a year-round retreat with spectacular views of the lake; a limestone fireplace accented with art found by the owners before the home was built.”
